How many lanes have passed beyond The simple maiden's gentle song? How many words have not been said Of meadows light, and lilac's beds? God only knows what peaks and crests Have never caught the breath from chests What isles still have yet to see The foreign fruit and stranger's tree--- What ocean depths, what wild beast Has never licked the modern feast What explorations still unreached Wait for us, stretched across the sea.
