Goodbye to summer, sweet and full
To corncobs' plump and shiny hulls,
To bright blue skies and shifting brooks
To warm, brown lanes and shady nooks.
Delightful sun casts light away
And settles for the crimson day
Black Labradors splash throughout the mud
Duck season where the cloudheads scud.
While summer bids the months adieu,
Autumn paints out its "Hello" hue.
